I get a lot of questions about my writing schedule, but I’m never quite sure how to answer them.
Admittedly, I’ve made up a convoluted system. It can be difficult to explain. This is primarily because I’m self-taught, so a lot of what I do is A) very personalized to my own needs and B) built off of vibes. But let me try to drill down to the heart of it.
Basically, I work on a lot of projects simultaneously. I’m happiest when I’m multitasking, so being able to jump between projects scratches my brain. The key to successfully balancing this is working on projects at different stages: one novel is being drafted while another is being edited, for instance. One book is on submission, while another is just a twinkling idea in my eye.
This haphazard method works for me! I love having multiple tabs open in my brain! When I get bored with one project, I can hop to another one—and when I get bored with that second one, I can peek in on a third. I’m free!
Now that I’ve graduated (yippee, yippee!) I’m free to spend the first half of the summer writing full-time. I can chat about my current writing schedule another time, but for now, just know that I have more time than I did before, which also explains the extended list of WIPs (work-in-progresses!).
Anyway, with that caveat established, here’s a glimpse at the current motley crew:
